"SHOALHAVEN 2012 PRE-SEASON TWILIGHT SERIES"
The general principles for Shoalhaven Hockey running the Pre-Season hockey programs are:
- Increase participation - expand the sport to a greater number of players
- Reintroduction - entice former players back into the sport
- Not to run in opposition with other major social sports offered in the evening
- Offer a game of sufficient duration to justify travel to and from Nowra
A Pre-Season Competitions to be offered prior to the 2012 Winter competition (February-March 2012)
To commence during the week commencing Monday 6th February 2012, Shoalhaven Hockey will be offering 2 evenings of Pre-season hockey.
- Tuesday evening - half field (cross court)
- Male series - 6 teams - 7 players /team, half field (rules below) between 6:30pm and 9:30pm
- Female series - 6 teams- 7 players /team, half field (rules below) between 6:30pm and 9:30pm
- Thursday evening - half field (cross court)
- Senior mixed comp - 7 players/team between 6:30pm and 9:30pm
- Junior U13 mixed series - 8 players per team (players to be graded) 6:00pm - 7:30pm
- Junior U16 mixed series - 8 players/team (players to be graded) 6:00pm and 7:30pm
- Team entry fees are payable with nomination.
- Umpires will be paid as specified for each series.
- All series will be played over 5 weeks & completed during mid March (prior to Winter competition)
Team Nomination & Team Entry Fees:
Nominations will be accepted from groups of
individuals or clubs. Nominations will be accepted on a first come basis
until the max number of teams are nominated. If more nominations are
received than can be accepted then an alternate evening may
be offered.
Nominations for individual Juniors and Seniors will be taken at any time during the series.
Rules for Pre-Season series (half field):
- Teams must be in a uniform (same colour shirt, shorts/skirt, socks)
- No more than 7 (or 8 for Juniors) players on the field per team at any time (up to 3 subs allowed)
- No more than 50% males on the field per team at any time on Thursday evenings
- Games are 20 or 25 min each way
- Goalkeepers are optional
- Penalty corners are to be played
- Penalty strokes are NOT to be played
- Balls must generally be played along the ground (similar to indoor rule) and can be played off the sideboards
- Any shot at goal can be no higher than backboard height
- Other FIH Rules apply
Seniors
Individual players seeking to play in any of the Pre-Season series but need to find a team, can nominate to Shoalhaven Hockey who will place them into a team. Competitions available are:
- Tuesday evening - half field senior series-7 players /team, half field (rules above) between 6:30pm and 9:30pm
- Thursday evening - half field senior mixed sex series - 7 players/team between 6:30pm and 9:30pm
Players are asked to complete an Individual Player Nomination form and email this to secretary@shoalhavenhockey.org.au

- Increase participation - expand the sport to a greater number of players
- Reintroduction - entice former players back into the sport
- Not to run in opposition with other major social sports offered in the evening
- Offer a game of sufficient duration to justify travel to and from Nowra
Spring/Summer 2012(October-December 2012)
Details below are subject to updating for 2012 series
To commence during the week commencing Monday 10th October 2011, Shoalhaven Hockey will be offering 3 evenings of competition.
- Monday evenings - half field (cross court)
- Junior U13 mixed comp - 6 players/team (players to be graded) between 6:00pm and 9:00pm
- Senior mixed comp - 6 players/team between 6:00pm and 9:00pm
- Tuesday evening - full field
- Mixed sex competition -8 players /team, full field (rules below) between 6:00pm and 9:00pm
- (May be extended to a separate Wednesday evening if sufficient teams nominate)
- Thursday evening - half field (cross court)
- Junior U16 mixed comp - 6 players/team (players to be graded) between 6:00pm and 9:00pm
- Senior mixed comp - 6 players/team between 6:00pm and 9:00pm
Team entry fees are payable with nomination.
Umpires will be paid as specified for each competition.
All comps will be played over 9-10 weeks & completed during mid December.
An end of season BBQ will be included it team entry fee
Player Compulsory Registration & Insurance
All players must be covered by insurance (Public
Indemnity & Personal Accident) to participate in competitions run by
Shoalhaven Hockey. Player Affiliation Form
Players will be covered by one of three methods:
- Players registered with Shoalhaven Hockey for the 2011 winter season - No additional fee
- Players registered with another Association for the 2011 winter season:
- Born before 1993 - $25
- Born 1993 or later - $10
- Players NOT registered with any association for the 2011 winter season:
- Born before 1993 - $55
- Born 1993 or later - $30
Team Nomination & Team Entry Fees:
- Junior half field: $25 per player: (See individual player nominations below)
- Half field open competitions - $250 per team (10 weeks) - Monday or Thursday
- Full field open competitions - $400 per team (10 weeks) - Tuesday

Individual Player Nominations
Juniors
The evening Junior half field competitions will be made up of individual players (born during or after 1996). Players will be graded by Shoalhaven Hockey and placed into teams for the competition. The competition will be for mixed 6 a side teams with/without a goalkeeper played on a half field. See rules below. Nominations are now called:
- Monday evenings U13 (1999 or later) mixed comp - 6 players/team (players to be graded) between 6:00pm and 9:00pm
- Thursday evening - U16 (1996 or later) mixed comp - 6 players/team (players to be graded) between 6:00pm and 9:00pm
- The evening competition for juniors will
be run on a player fee of $25 per player.

Umpires
All umpires will be paid by the Association. Each
team will be asked to nominate an umpire. This umpire will be allocated
to umpire on behalf of the team or find a replacemnent.

Rules for 8/side full field competition - mixed teams:
- Teams must be in a uniform (same colour shirt, shorts/skirt, socks)
- No more than 8 players on the field per team at any time (up to 4 subs allowed)
- No more than 4 males on the field per team at any time
- The northern 25 is a female only zone.
- The southern 25 is a male only zone (can include females who are nominated as playing as males)
- Games are 25 min each way
- There will be no goalkeepers
- Penalty corners are to be converted to free hits on the 25 (opposite the breach)
- Penalty strokes are to be converted to goals straight away.
